The design skillfully incorporates a mix of single and double occupancy rooms, complemented by well-designed shared restroom facilities. At the heart of this living environment is a common kitchen and spacious living areas that facilitate community interaction among students. The project prioritizes inclusivity with ADA-compliant features and robust security measures, while also providing seminar rooms specifically for honors-level classes. Outdoor amenities, including a terrace and fire pits, create inviting spaces for social gatherings and connection.
The residences are thoughtfully integrated into the local residential landscape, utilizing a modest scale and carefully selected materials that reflect and enhance the character of the surrounding neighborhood.
Key components of the housing complex include adaptable lecture and seminar spaces, as well as communal areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and common sinks designed for the convenience of residents.
Replacing outdated structures from the 1900s at the edge of campus, this new facilities embrace a welcoming aesthetic marked by hip roofs, lap siding, stone foundations, and inviting porches—elements that foster a genuine sense of “home” for honors students. This project not only strengthens the student experience but also reinforces the University’s ongoing commitment to promoting academic excellence and fostering a vibrant community.
