Project Description
Woodsfield K-8 Middle School is in the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District. The hilltop site is shared with Monroe Central High School, creating a campus for Grades K-12. The topography provides a spectacular view back to the town of Woodsfield and the surrounding heavily wooded hillsides. The buildings simple single sloped roof shape in trees is complimented by a two-tone masonry exterior.
The 67,120 SF two-story academic section is oriented on an east/west axis with classroom exterior walls facing north and south, allowing for daylighting of the all classrooms. The facility includes a Technology Wing with Art Room, Music Room, and Production Lab. Other core spaces include Gymnasium and Media Center.
The building has a ground source heat pump HVAC system and shapes a well field with the adjacent high school building.
The building is registered with the USGBC and is LEED Silver Certified.
