The Mahoning County Veterans’ Services Commission Renovations Project was a transformative initiative that repurposed and modernized an existing 23,035 square-foot facility. Previously utilized as a grocery store and then a medical facility, the building underwent a comprehensive renovation to become a full-service center dedicated to supporting veterans throughout Mahoning County. This facility served as a centralized hub for casework operations, providing streamlined access to benefits and services in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs.

The scope of work encompassed a wide range of improvements designed to ensure safety, functionality, and long-term sustainability. The project began with hazardous materials abatement and selective demolition, creating a safe foundation for construction. All major building systems—including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing—were upgraded to meet current standards and improve operational efficiency. Interior spaces were reconfigured with new partitions, modern finishes, and enhanced door and hardware systems to create a welcoming and functional environment for staff and visitors alike.

Exterior improvements included the replacement of storefront systems, installation of a new roof to improve durability and energy performance, and select structural modifications to support the new design requirements. Site enhancements featured a carport drive-through canopy for convenient veteran access and the installation of an underground stormwater detention system to promote environmental stewardship.
