Project Description

The Parkway Elementary School project consists of the renovation of a 30,000 square foot 1920 school, along with a 32,000 square foot addition, built on a very restricted urban site. The addition contains a new gym, dining commons, platform, music and art rooms, a computer lab, and special ed classrooms. In the original school, the centered gym was redesigned into a multi-leveled media center.

Particular attention was paid to the detailing and materiality of the building exterior. It was the desire of the community to have a design which blended with the existing architecture and the scale of the residential neighborhood surrounding the site.
