Project Description

This new 52,420 SF elementary school building, for 425 students in grades K-5, was built on a redeveloped rural site as a part of a comprehensive OSFC CFAP building program for West Branch Local School District. The existing school on the site was demolished. In response to the desire of the school district and its neighboring farm houses, the exterior replaces a traditional form and scale of earlier rural school buildings. The new design incorporated pitched gable roofs, articulated masonry walls, a significant daylighting strategy and high bay spaces for major areas such as the dining room and media center. Damascus opened in the Fall of 2005.
